Reality time: You’ll feel a healthy dose of imposter syndrome at some point in their business. And, if most we’re being honest here, which we are, you’ll feel it at multiple points in your business.
That’s not meant to suck the air out of your lungs as you head into another week. It’s meant to encourage you because imposter syndrome is perhaps the number one thing that keeps brilliant minds stuck.
But Kimberly, if imposter syndrome is so rampant and it keeps people stuck, why do I see so many others surging forward with brilliant ideas, marketing, and sales?!
Too often, budding entrepreneurs imagine the entrepreneur life to be a grind in the beginning, then smooth sailing after you cross a certain threshold of success. You hope that you can do the hard work now, then hit the cruise control button to keep coasting your way through for time and financial freedom.
It doesn’t quite work like that, and that’s by God’s design.
To help paint a picture of why, look at what’s written in 2 Corinthians 12:9
“My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
God wants you to need Him. He wants a relationship with you. He wants your heart, your hard work, and your love. In exchange for your perfect trust when you feel weak and uncertain in your business, He pours out all the grace you need to move with more confidence in His name.
So, it makes sense then, especially when you feel weak-minded and clouded with imposter syndrome, you stop looking horizontally and start looking vertically. Looking upwards is where you’ll find the understanding of God’s purpose for your life, which helps reignite the spark and confidence inside.
The more work you put in, the more God will show you just how much you don’t know, leaving you more reliant on Him for direction, and that’s a good thing.
The more challenges you put yourself in front of, the more strength you’ll need from God, and that’s a good thing.
The more you continue pushing yourself, even when you feel a little wobbly, the stronger you’ll become.
God doesn’t want you to feel totally comfortable in any one spot because that complacency leads to a life of stillness rather than strength.
